Most people know me as Di Real English.
Some know me through comedy. Others through film, entrepreneurship, media, branding or culture. But none of those titles fully describe who I am. At my core, I am a producer, a writer and a culture architect — building platforms, creating opportunities, preserving culture and telling stories that matter.
The Story
It began in Suriname
I was born and raised in Suriname, a country built on diversity, resilience and creativity. Growing up, I became fascinated by the power of storytelling and the role it plays in shaping identity. That fascination eventually became the foundation of everything I built.
My journey started in entertainment, where productions such as the Di Real English DVD Series, Worst Tori, Dirty Money, Coronie VS English and Mr Hard Time helped establish my name among Surinamese audiences.
What began as entertainment quickly developed into something much larger.
I realized people were not only looking for humor. They were looking for recognition — they wanted to see their experiences, language, culture and reality reflected in the stories being told.
That understanding transformed how I viewed media. Storytelling was no longer simply entertainment. It became a responsibility — to document, to preserve, to create opportunities and to strengthen cultural identity.
As the years passed, that vision expanded beyond film and comedy into entrepreneurship, media development, brand building and community engagement. Every project I touched shared one common goal: building something that creates value for people.
